Simbrahs set for Sept
Published in Queensland Country Life - 12th August 2010
The largest registered Simbrah stud in Australia goes to auction with a line-up of 100 first-class bulls on-property at Gowrie Charleville on September 29 at 1pm.
The 11th annual Simbrah and Simmental bull sale will feature Simbrah and Simmental bulls recommended to boost production in any existing herd with improved muscling, ealry maturing and good frames – attractive traits for the live export market.
Noel Mobbs, Gowrie Simbrah and Simmental Stud principal, said Simmental genetics boost the strength of Braham and other Bos Indicus when crossed, allowing excellent weight-for-age gain.
“They complement the hardiness of the Braham, producing cattle that pay you earlier and in any market,” Mr Mobbs said.
“Simbrahs will improve the function of any herd. From lotfeeders, breeders or grassfed fatteners, the Simmental and Simbrah bull will support your business.”
The Gowrie Simbrahs are bred to extreme conditions of drought, excessive heat/cold, and more recently, flooding rains.
“We continue to be pleased with their durability, tenacity and doability,” Mr Mobbs said.
“Gowrie bulls have been sold from Victoria to the Gulf and continue to expand into new territories.
“The Simbrah, in my opinion, has been overlooked as an obvious contender for a cross genetic tool between the Bos Indicus and European bloodlines – so much more can be gained out of producing cattle with the best of both worlds.”

The line up of Bulls offered on the day were of exceptional Quality and finish, with an excellently prepared sale yard and cattle complex on property at Gowrie Charleville, one of the only on property bull sales in South West Queensland, making this particular sale so practical and handy to local cattle buyers. Gowrie Stud Principal Noel Mobbs, says “the cattle market and beef producer are continuing to discover the great advantage of the Simbrah, with speedy weight gain, big boned and beefy cattle with the double cross of hardy, well doing breeding offered by the Simmental and Brahman. When it comes down to the bottom line of kilograms per carcass the Simbrah pays the grower again and again, with heavy weights returned for each beast. We have been breeding Simbrahs for 27 years and have never looked back , trusting in these cattle to give us great weights at the market place, hanging on even under the duress of drought and climatic hardship”.
Next years sale will again be held in September and all at Gowrie look forward to preparing another great line up of bulls and invite the discerning cattle grower to come along and take advantage of the Gowrie Simbrah and Simmental genetics.
